Loved this . My grandmother’s name was Sarah cohen on my mother’s side. Shirin neshat is working on a book exploring the various styles that Iranian women wear their eye adornments eye adornments.

My grandmother's name was Sarah, but she changed it to Sara because she wanted to be modern.

She was Scottish, not Jewish. Everyone called her Sally.

My mom went gray very young and dyed her hair in varying brunette tones until one day, when she was well into her 90s, her stylist candidly told her she didn't need to color her hair any more: it had turned a becoming shade of platinum on its own. She wore it magnificently for the rest of her life.
