esther, do you know the online magazine called mr beller's neighborhood? it's been running for many years; all true stories about NYC. i have had 8 memoir pieces published there over the years. in theory, i am working on a book of similar work, but i am slow to organize it and write additional stories that fit in well. i think you would enjoy reading some of them: here's a direct link to me and each of my stories. https://mrbellersneighborhood.com/author/susan-t-landry [thank you for your generous compliments. i did actually attempt to set up a substack but i don't think i know how to do it. 🙄
my first husband and i went to Rockport (i was 21, he was 20) for our honeymoon because my forebears settled Rockport in the 1600s. anyway: we spent one night there but couldnt take it because they had no movie theaters. i've been back of course, but not recently. my current husband despises Rockport because he lived there for a short while with his previous psychotic wife. thank you for writing this. now i want to drive down there some day soon by myself and look at it with older-and-wiser woman eyes.
