Hamas has never known a ceasefire it didn’t violate. And Hezbollah, Houthis, Iranian weapons, Russian disinformation, massive pro-Hamas rallies, especially In Our Lifetime IOL (not to be confused with OIL) are not pro-Palestinian. They are pro-Hamas. Let’s be clear about these things. Yes, international peace force (not necessarily UN) is essential for all these reasons. Hamas Charter says it all - annihilation of the Jewish people, not just Israelis; Islamic Jihad supremacy across the vast region, not a Palestinian state. My pointing out these complications is not meant to undermine the project of peace, but more to AGREE that without international intervention, little changes.

Hamas attacked Israel when it did precisely to derail a massive potential peace deal between Israel and the Saudis. Hamas' openly stated goal is the destruction and obliteration not only of the state of Israel but of every Jew. Hamas has hundreds of gallons and tons of fuel and supplies in its 300+ miles of tunnels, much of it diverted from U.S. and international aid that was intended to go to civilians. That fuel and food could easily run the generators in Gaza hospitals and feed civilians--but as long as Hamas continues to control the narrative, Israel will continue to be demonized no matter how many humanitarian pauses it puts into place. The notion that terrorists whose stated goal is genocide should be courted and acceded to is beyond absurd.
