I went to buy a bathing suit before a vacation back when the Town Shop was on the other side of Broadway. Selma was there. She told me that my idea of a good suit was all wrong. She sent me back to the dressing room and proceeded to bring suits to try on. At some point I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror, and feeling discouraged, was ready to just give up. She, however, had other ideas and kept insisting that I try on “just this one”. I felt like a prisoner, but I must say that I left the store that day with the most flattering suit I ever owned.
Yes. and I remember the scary, skinny bra lady, who pull the straps of the bra so tight I thought I'd choke.
Selma’s wisdom, yeah!
OYOYOY!
OY! What a wonderful poem!
This is too hilarious! I could see this scene in a movie. lol
I would buy this book. Oy!
What an enjoyable "down to earth" poem!
I would suggest upgrading its title to OY VEY.
May I share it on my FB?
Please do. I’d love more subscribers x
Nothing like New York moments like these.
