Making New Friends
odd headline
A few weeks ago the New York Times
ran a piece about how hard
it is to make new friends. The reporter
gave suggestions, summarized
in the subtitle: a new type of event
aims to forge connection despite
hectic schedules, exhaustion,
and a plethora of other social options.
Then they gave suggestions,
like joining the Critical Thinking Club
(oy vey)
My methodology: go sit on the bench.
Someone else will always join you.
They’re usually interesting. And if
you want, you can see them again.

NYC is the most "connecting" place in the world.....You can talk with anyone and 99% of the time they engage with you. Sometimes it turns into friendship. I love those few minute spontaneous chats in the elevator......at the bus stop......In Verdi Park.....at dining places.....I never understand how one can be lonely in the city.....A million places to meet up with others when the urge hits you. I am so thankful for this......
