Artist/ teacher faith ringold passed away 2 days ago. She taught for one term in 1970ish when I was a student at Pratt institute. She focused on the work of feminist artists. Great gallery visits & a few studio visits as well. Fast forward to1981 when she had her FIRST retrospective @ the new museum. I shared how important it is for us to seek & support women artists in an art world who for so many years have marginalized their important work, their existence. She was kind enough to share her email address with me. We corresponded for a very short period of time. Her email address was “ Anyonecanfly@………
I don’t know how this April post showed up now in my email, but I am so glad I got to groove on the Comics Room doc and Linda Barry this morning. What a fun place she created!! Thank you, Esther!
When I was doing photo research for a marriage and family book, I used Lynda's cartoon for "Love is an exploding cigar we willingly smoke," and she sent me a drawing as thanks. Nice woman.
Thank you so much for this documentary. So good. I wish I had met Lynda Barrie or Faith Ringgold when I was younger, Such amazing women, artists, people...
I love Barry’s short film. It has inspired me.
