Yesterday I got a bunch of handwritten letters.
I love them no matter what they say (!).
One was from Cheryl Clarke with her beautiful
handwriting. She apologized for her paper
which was fine. The others were written to
a broadside I co-edit called
Alte: Growing Old Together. Now
I will use my fountain pen (I have two)
to send some handwritten letters myself.
If you would like a handwritten letter
(I don’t know what I’ll say) send me
your address and I’ll write one for you.

Israel I have files and files of handwritten and also typed letters, another lost art, since it involved putting a piece of paper into an envelope and adding a stamp! And do you remember aerograms? And postcards? I'm sure I have some from you as well when we were working on what became "After Lebanon: The Israeli-Palestinian Connection." On the other hand, I have a newly discovered cousin who sends me orally recorded messages (they must have a name), because she has problems typing email messages.
Oh please please Esther write me a letter. It may not arrive for some years given the state of our postal service but it would be wonderful to receive a letter from you. I promise to write back! Gillian Barlow 19 Crescent Street, Rozelle 2039 NSW Australia
