Yesterday Peter chopped
ten pounds of onions. People told us
to make them in the Cuisinart
but he likes chopping. I
like his chopping too. Onions
my mother’s brisket secret.
There can’t be too many.
On the New York Times official
holiday recipe site, they suggest
one onion for six brisket pounds. One onion
never enough for anything. I make
my grandmother’s kugel too. Rumanian
Jew she believed in sweet. Yellow raisin
kugel. We will have a nod to modern times,
one green vegetable, maybe two
but it will just be a nod.
