Contentious conversation
on Zoom this morning
about charging for Subtack.
I wonder what you think.
In the middle of strikes
and etcetera
where everyone is explaining
why we should all be paid,
I’m curious to know how YOU
feel about paying for poems.
(And fyi I love anyone
who agrees to Read These Poems
whether you pay or not.)

If you want to pay you can. And if you don’t
I’ll still send poems.
I'm not sure. I can appreciate that writing deserves payment. Yet at Palestine-Israel Journal we don't pay writers since we don't have the means to do so. That doesn't prevent writers from wanting to contribute articles to the publication. And I will add that lately I've been watching some fascinating Zoom discussions about poetry, presented by Prof. David Peimer, and he does them all for free. The latest were on T.S. Elliot, Dylan Thomas, Byron and Shelley, and William Blake. Next week, for summer fun, he's doing Sherlock Holmes, one of my heroes.
I think writers should be paid, and I like your method of making it voluntary.
