on the screen you could see

what it means to be 

part of a loving community

people sharing beliefs 

knowing the same history

continuing because

you want it to.

holidays holidays comfort 

of community the comfort of knowing

one another

I gave unknowing, sophomoric speeches 

against this world,:

predictable, certain, too familiar.

I wanted what I didn’t know, not understanding

there is always something 

you have to give up for something

you might want.
