How extraordinary and beautifully told. Peter's timing was so good.

If this were fiction, that's where you would put the scene where he proposed to her. I feel honored that you decided to tell us this today.

I knew about the first part of the story, but not about the "happy ending"! I also had long time reservations about visiting Germany, which finally receded after meeting post-war German peace activists on the kibbutz and at END (European Nuclear Disarmament) conferences. After my first visit in 2009 coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, have been back quite a few times. Today the six veteran German political foundations and the German government are among the main supporters of the Israeli peace movement.

Glad you were safe and glad you continued your trip. I attend livestream shul because I do not feel safe attending in person. I live in an area that advertises as inclusive but real life is otherwise

I graduated Syracuse U. and discovered a new world there but never found peace. The Lockerbee ( sp) Scotland bombing killed Syracuse students.
