Aha! Here's another category for collecting stories and quips. I recall one guy who suddenly announced he could no longer see me anymore, after a particularly cozy, fun, scintillating evening. Concerned, I asked if he had been diagnosed with some dastardly eye disease? No. He told me it was because "You're not interesting." I had to correct his syntax: "You're not interested...But I am still interesting!"
I still remember the excitement when Elvis' version of "Hound Dog came out. One disk jockey responding to a complaint from a listener about why doesn't he play the other side of the record "Don't Be Cruel". The deejay's response was to play a few seconds of "Don't Be Cruel", and then to immediately turn it over back to "Hound Dog". "There" he said, "I turned it over." And to think that two Jewish boys, Lieber and Stoller, wrote the song. In this case, I'm in the Elvis camp on this.
He was wrong
"And bow wow to you too!"
He was so wrong, but it saved you time.
I second the above comments: thank you!
Oh my goodness! She is simply amazing. Once again, thanks for these singers and musicians you post.
One of my favorites. She leaves Elvis in the dust.
And Buddy Guy, wow!
Truly amazing - and a revelation. Thanks, Esther. Wishing you and Peter a very happy new Hanukkah.
You Are Correct!
That was wonderful! Thank you for posting!
Oh my gosh I only knew the version that Elvis recorded. He did a fine cover but oh my.
