We still all talk about what to watch.
My list from the New York Society Library class
yesterday where everyone’s choices
are worth writing down:
Mama Weed a movie with Isabelle Huppert
where she plays a good drug dealer;
The Man in the Hat another movie not many words;
River a 7 part mystery series (we watched one
last night and will watch more)
Wayward a secret agent series from a while ago
White Lotus from Mike White
(I am a Mike White fan and watched
Chuck and Buck more than once.)
and Doc Martin a cranky doctor who wants
to be called Doctor and his first name is Martin.
(What about you?)
Doc Martin! Flawed, lovable characters and set in Paradise
--Lupin, the early 20th-century gentleman thief and master of disguise has become a Black working man in Paris, starring Omar Sy, recently profiled in The New Yorker.
--Trapped, a series about a small town in Iceland with a three-person police department and lots of snow and big crimes.
--Spiral, a Law and Order sort of series in Paris (its French title translates as "cogs").
I second Doc Martin. A TV comedy had never made me laugh out loud that much.
What's special about all of these is the characters.
