Hard not to be mesmerized by someone else’s problems.
We binge watched Couples Therapy on Showtime (does this
qualify as a review in verse?). This season the best.
Orna, therapist, attractive (maybe she is too thin) Israeli
with many good necklaces teaches at NYU a single mother
of two children in a Successful Apartment ( big room, textiles et al)
she has patience, is perceptive, and then there are the couples:
this year an Orthodox couple Michael and Michal
(she’s impossible to please he sits back and doesn’t say much)
two men Gianni handsome Italian dancer ex-alcoholic boyfriend Matthew
from an Evangelical family he might go to hell
Puerto Rican couple from the Bronx she has a son they have a son
we watch them all, listen closely to what they do and don’t say
listen to Orna talk to her own supervisor therapist Virginia
who has the best line of the show (in this non-reviewer’s opinion)
“He’s reporting the vicious facts of life as lived by him.”
