Easy for me to be judgmental
about everything:
tribalism, the idea that radishes
are $5 at a Truro farmstand
and cucumbers $2.50
and one white peach (delicious)
$1.50 and the people
around don’t look doubt-filled
enough for me. But
we are in a charming house
short walk from a perfect pond
and I didn’t know there are
1,000 ponds from glacier times
on the Cape and now
I want to swim in all of them
and every day so far
we have eaten oysters and last night
we had an A plus dinner
spiced cantaloupe, lobster salad
at Winslow tavern and Negronis
and the bartender was a double
for the chef in The Bear and I finished
my book, started another one
and on top of that,
I booked my first bookstore
reading in many years
for November 30
and the man whose name
will never appear in my poems was indicted
again and I heard Fox News
say the words indictment
and today we will swim again,
eat oysters, and I will read
another good book at the pond
and try although I am not
a Zen type not even a little
try to eliminate at least for
the next few days,
everything but this.
"eat a lotta peaches..." john prine :)
Enjoy. It all sounds wonderful.
