Some years ago I started an Esther Cohen project.
So many of us who knows how many.
My friend Anita Michaels told me
her client Ellen Levine went to an Ellen Levine
luncheon every year so I decided to try Esther Cohens.
I contacted 50 Esther Cohens
from Facebook from an old white pages phonebook
I kept for all those names. I wrote to all Esther Cohens
saying maybe we’d have an Esther Cohen book
or an exhibit or something. Tell me about yourself I said.
About ten of them wrote back to me
and although this project is in my One Day pile
I haven’t thought about it much yesterday
a Brazilian Esther Cohen I like her who knows why
wrote a letter on this site to Bill,
the man who didn’t like my poems.
(I didn’t know that Brazilian Esther Cohen read
these poems but I’m glad she does. Her unedited
letter is here. Portuguese is her first language.
The art is from her note

Dear Bill, "nickname" stranger. I'm sorry to disappoint you but, first of all, I'm not that Esther who writes poems -as a matter of fact I don't think all her poems are...poems and likable as well. But some are, I cannot disagree. As to the names, believe me but there are many Esther Cohen, even in other countries. I'm a brazilian, living in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul - yeah, Gisele's Bundchen state, and I must say I became very pleased and surprised when I've found this coincidence many years ago. In that ocasion me and "your's" Esther exchanged a few mails and had even thought to write about. But Esther Cohen project stayed only in our will...Dear Bill, you must forgive me for my English being not so perfect, but I'm working in it. Forgive also for not being that Esther Cohen. Be free to write me again.
(And here’s who she is in her words: Esther Guendelsmann Cohen
I'm a journalist and for many years - decades, as a matter of fact - I've been working as a freelance publicist as well. I've a personal and a professional Linkedin profile - Esther Cohen Marketing de Conteúdo (Esther Cohen Marketing Contents).
You are a hoot and a half.
I love the Esther Cohen project!
