We survive with each other,
and with music.
This morning I called
an old friend in Israel
we haven’t talked in 30 years
she still lives on a moshav
Remember when we went
swimming nude
in a nearby stream with
Danny our blind friend
and he couldn’t see us?
I’m too old to do that now
she said. On the chance
he could see my varicose veins.
We were both glad
we could still laugh.
Carla Bley died this week. I’ve always loved her.

i met with an old friend this week. we were in the playpen together when our fathers were in World War 2. now we are both 81- its amazing to be this old and still feel like Im young- not young like the playpen but still can feel like what it was like to swim nude. thanks for bringing that up
In the midst of all the tragic events that are going on here, it's good to recall that I/we also swam nude around midnight at the kibbutz pool, co-ed, and I think everyone's eyesight was okay, at least mine was. Also one time in the Mediterranean Sea, near Caesarea. I was the only one with a camera, and when the others asked me to take photos, I said let's just leave it with memories. Hallelujah!
