The fact that I am not
athletic is not the reason
I don’t have sneakers although
I suppose if I was one
of the people who ran
rigorously or even occasionally
when I was young maybe
I would have them.
In college I had a boyfriend
who ran and he would drink
some water bend over and stretch
and then he’d announce
I’m Going For a Run
and I’d say where and we’d
both laugh. Now though
as I have entered into
the endless body parts
conversations feet being
one of those parts
a friend said It’s Time
for Sneakers. And someone
else told me about
a 3 pairs for 99 dollars
sale on the Hoka website
Hoka being a brand
that everyone seemed
to know but me. I spent
some time looking at the sneakers
trying not to be bothered
by the huge HOKA lettering
and wondering if now that I am
in the body parts age,
sneakers are finally for me.
If you can keep going w your beautiful shoe collection, do...i am clinging to certain heels but can’t wear them anymore. I see Nancy Pelosi, early 80s, strides around wearing stilettos.
I found less sneakerish sneakers in black Merrills........great support, comfy, inobtrusive.
