Read the real estate section
of the New York Times even if you
are not especially interested
in real estate (I am not).
The section called The Hunt
is often interesting.
Real people explain
why they’re moving. Common
reason: empty nesters Then
look for a good sentence or two.
Jane and Rich Kaner, in this week’s paper,
are looking on Long Island and Queens.
They met as college students years ago
and are still working together
at Brooklyn Audiology Associates.
If you look you’ll find a poem right here:
they’d previously lived in a four bedroom
3,200 square foot house in Merrick,
Long Island called a splanch:
hybrid of split level and ranch.
Who knew that before, or
how easily a splanch is a poem.
