We still sit on the porch.
The tractor repair place
called to say although
the tractor can be repaired
we should buy a new one.
People are coming to dinner
we’ve never met before.
My cousin Raymond’s Texas friends.
A woman in class yesterday said
there’s nothing she likes more
than meeting new people.
Some don’t like the rain.
We’re happy enough right here.
We had a large screened porch at our home in Lake Carmel. On rainy days, the neighborhood kids would come to play cards and bingo on it. My grandmother, a Hibernian was fond of bingo and I had a deluxe bingo set. When everyone came to our porch on rainy summer days, Grandma would call bingo for us. The prizes we played for were usually things like fresh toll house cookies or other baked goods from our kitchen.
