once we believed every single

Nate Silver word not sure now

today he said:

polls have shifted toward Democrats

and we who try not to be

entirely obsessive about the midterms

just a few weeks

what will happen to this country

the Senate the House

what matters more

women or crime

and what about

inflation isn’t it possible

all things matter

women will save us

and that the man whose name

I don’t say in poems

will finally vanish

maybe not to jail

but forever in Florida

and we will never hear

his name again

(unless we play bridge)
