People ask
how life has changed
in our small upstate town.
Our new neighbor across
bought a house that was owned
by Beulah Hill when we
bought our house years ago.
Beulah was a Protestant lady
with a small hat and navy blue suit.
She brought over a peanut butter pie
with the recipe on an index card,
She told me to file it
with my other recipes and when I said
I don’t have a filing box
she told me where to buy one.
Today we heard a well known
ceramist Paula Greif
bought the house where
Beulah lived.
She will be there full time.
(Maybe I should continue
the tradition and
bring her a peanut butter pie.
Do it. Bring this poem too and a recipe box.
what beautiful people you see and notice. thank you for letting us see them.
