Friends came. Nina from Sweden said
her grandmother went out with Ingmar Bergman once.
Dull she said. I put him right into the drawer.
We all cooked, set the table the way we did thousands of times
before Covid sat together as though we’d never been apart
as though this impossible time did not happen. No one said
pandemic or vaccine and although normal may be a different word now
we drank bottles of wine, ate first sweet strawberries,
talked about summer as though summer would be summer again.
Oooooh! I hope so!
