A week ago I got into
the elevator Saturday
around 8 in the morning
to bring garbage to the basement
with Glen elevator repair man
frequent visitor,
Why he was there so early I asked.
People on the fourth floor
are crazy he replied.
They complained
and here I am.
You can see you and I
are riding the elevator.
He got off on the ground floor.
I went to the basement.
The elevator never returned
so I walked up to our fifth
floor apartment. The elevator’s
broken since then.

Life has its ups and downs.
At least you have an elevator. My building, built in 1959, doesn't have one. I'm on the first floor, so that means just an 18 step walk up. This is the first time that I noticed that it's possible to listen to your poems. So I pushed the button. Israel once had a song entry in the Eurovision Song Contest called "Push the Button."
