Peter took our iPhones to exchange them
in a shopping mall in Hudson.
He said it would take a while so I went
next door to Ollies, new large job lot store
with the slogan Good Cheap Stuff.
Store smells like a combination
of strong air fresheners:
candle vanilla, forest, lemongrass and thyme.
Peter dislikes air fresheners, his number one reason
for not going to Ollies.
I like all job lot stores
and have been to Ollies once before.
I took my time, buying Charlotte’s Web
and White Fragility, a bright yellow towel,
granola, asmall rug, aluminum foil,
coloring books for Ahava, two red notebooks.
After an hour my cart was full.
A familiar woman with a beautiful smile
walked over to me with her partner.
I miss Jill Danzig and you she said
even though I don’t remember your name.
Jill Danzig is a friend and a yoga teacher.
And the woman, named Priti, was
our terrific yoga teacher a while ago.
I was glad to see her.
You won’t believe what happened she said.
We’re here for a week and wanted to go
to Shoprite but
the store is closed where it was before.
I told my friend I thought we should
walk into Ollies and see if anyone here
could tell us where Shoprite moved. Could
that person be You?
It’s just down the street I said. On your left.
You see she said to her friend.
All life is Karma. Now tell me your name.
Shopping for Cheap Stuff:
My cousins took me to Selfridge's basement, which seemed boring...until a stranger came up to me and said, "Your birthday is October 17th". Yes, it is.
Loved that one!
