Tenants next door
from Staten Island
here for the weekend.
I like them. Son came
to say hello. Two sets
of grandparents a couple
a friend a newborn baby
all musicians
voted for You Know Who.
When we moved here
what I liked about this place
(before people from Brooklyn
discovered the Hudson valley)
was how different we all
are. Not like
my small homogenous
bubble (I still like that too)
where strangers at Zabars
are happy to discuss why
Barbara Kingsolver deserved
the Pulitzer Prize
(she posted today because she
lives in Appalachia she received
many Pulitzer Pies.)
DEAR FRIENDS: MY POEMS ARE FREE BUT IF YOU WANT TO SUBSCRIBE YOU CAN. LOVE ESTHER
Love this!! Liz and Kirk
My father went to Spring Valley High School. His parents left Brooklyn in the 1930s when they discovered the Hudson Valley. I used to live at 200th and Broadway, which is more Hudson than Valley. I miss hearing the pheasants in the Park.
