Oscars last night. Amy Schumer, Regina Hall
and Wanda Sykes surprising hosts. Many breasts
in evidence (Williams sisters et al) and the night
was better than usual faster faster
even though I didn’t see Dune and never will
not out of any philosophical principle (!)
Dune not my subject matter texted with friends
Doug said about Judi Dench’s dress:
Hope's grandmother wore the same thing
with space shoes to Cousin Alma's sweet sixteen in the Bronx
in the Commie co-ops on Moshula Pkwy.
Then Chris Rock came out on the stage.
Who doesn’t like Chris Rock? Maybe
some of the people who like Dune
and I will not describe the texts that followed
except that Didi found the entire exchange
between Rock and Smith on a Japanese tweet
it’s everywhere today
Will Smith about whom I am ambivalent
King Richard was OK one of those
Rocky movies and of course the Williams sisters
are amazing. Afterwards Will Smith
won an Academy Award made an emotional speech
he cried for who knows what reason
Amy Schumer appeared and said: did I miss
something and today every major paper
has a What Happened Last Night and I
am determined not to be among them
not to write my poem about that.
Judi Dench outshines them all...but not in Tea With The Dames: a matched set
