New Woman in our Small Post Office
(DEAR READERS OF THESE POEMS. TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO SUBSCRIBE
IF THAT IDEA APPEALS TO YOU.)
New woman in the post office two doors away
(I liked the last three especially Irene
who, at 86, talked about her sex life and we who
bought stamps remained continually mesmerized, drawn
to going to the post office more often than usual to hear
what Irene had to say. Bottom line: she liked it)
new woman in the post office talks a lot (not about her sex life yet)
said that her daughter works for Dolly Parton in Dollywood
as a baker Dolly likes brownies especially and her granddaughter
may possibly be a genius, given the evidence so far. Her
granddaughter watched FROZEN 1 and 2, knows all the songs.
(This summer my guess is I won’t be going to the post office as often.)
