Now that I am
Older ( Even Old)
I lose names
and words
but some things
stay forever such as
two birthdays
of college friends:
tomorrow my old friend
Robert Svenson we
met in freshman
Spanish class sat
next to one another
stumbled through
Nada Menos Que Todo Un Hombre
novel by Miguel Unamo
(how do I remember that?).
Senior Svenson handsome,
funny, had a girlfriend
named Tina but eventually
he lived with my good friend Sue.
And the next day’s
the birthday of another
roommate, successful
food writer now. I follow
her on Instagram:
beautiful food,
expensive stove,
yesterday her new copper roof.
(She doesn’t follow me.)
The image of a new copper roof is a special expression of "made it," no?
I will forever remember a classmate named Blanche Cochinski because it is the kind of name so amusing, that it needs to be remembered.
