Julia Roberts told this story
on an interview with Gayle King,
of how her parents –
Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts
befriended Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta.
"My parents had a theater school in Atlanta
called the Actors and Writers Workshop,” she said.
“One day Coretta called my mother to ask
if her kids could be part of the school
because they were having a hard time finding a place
that would accept her them". Roberts is 55.
Black and white kids didn’t study
theater together in Georgia. “Of course
Roberts mother said. The families
became friends. The Roberts family
had money problems and when it was time
for Julia to be born, the King family
helped to pay for her birth.
Humanity always moves me. Great story.
Beautiful.
