Here’s a poem:
Last night I saw Jenny Douglas. We met years ago
when she was working on the Leonard Lopate show and I
followed Hana Schygulla Fassbinder heroine who came
with an entourage and was as amazing as Hana Schygulla.
I was alone and had no distinguishing characteristics
except for my green suede boots which Leonard Lopate
didn’t notice nor did he read my book and he was still
enamored of Hana Schygulla who wouldn't be while I was
sitting in his room waiting for the words Good Book or something
comparable but Jenny Douglas was generous and kind and she
did not talk about Hana Schygulla and when we met by chance
later at a writers retreat in New Mexico we connected
the way people sometimes do and maybe
I have Hana Schygulla to thank for that.
