We and the power of art are breaking down the walls! Judy Clark
Last night’s reading of incarcerated women
still in prison Bedford Hills and Maine
because of the oddness of zoom
Maine women could read to us from prison
on their iPads in last night’s reading
women who’d been incarcerated read too
The Right/Write to Heal told stories
about addiction and abuse and how women
endure them all how strength happens
they told stories of joy too and children
and how hard life can be. In last night’s reading
for Penn South Social Services
Women’s History Month
a big audience listened carefully
to every single word.
When I get it, I will post the reading for people who missed it.
And here’s an interview about the class that Sheryl McCarthy did on One to One
with the incomparable Roslyn Smith.
I’m sorry we couldn’t be there. Very much looking forward to reading their work. What a wonderful project.
Esther, stunning and important. "lift up the voices that are muted."
