I am from a small factory town
Ansonia, Connecticut. We did not have
Similar Neighbors like suburbs and developments.
Our town was tribal and not. We
liked our neighbors on one side especially
Julia C. Steele town librarian in love
for many years with a female fifth grade teacher
at long last they moved to Mexico
I am from a story I’ve tried to tell
many times not a memoir I am not a memoirist
maybe just because
I don’t remember enough
Friday nights at the Beth Israel synagogue center
in Derby, Connecticut we would dress up
sit in pews the very same pews every week
I would ask for another pew different vantage point
maybe life would look different from over there
I’d argue. Is that what you want my father said.
It does look different from over there.
Friday nights. That's how it was. You remember much much more that I do. Which I guess is both good and not so good and sometimes awful...
