You are my family
all of you reading
these poems
stopping in sometimes
sending stories of Steves
drinking Negronis with me
you who send handwritten notes
suggest movies
tv series you who are
the children of my mother’s sister
my father’s brother
you who I met so many
years ago in Kiryat Shmona
in the food line at Ghost Ranch
on the long bus trip Chiapas
to Guatemala you who are
everywhere, who know
more than one good joke
who work hard to make this world
a little better who know
how to laugh
you are my family
everyone of you
How lovely are these thoughts of yours.
Thank you, Esther. I feel that family connection every day as I read your poems.
