Not until I reached A Certain Age (what is that age? I can’t
say for sure ) I began to consider
Various Body Parts and What to Do About Them:
Eyebrows, for instance. My mother had
penciled in upside down U’s, loose in their appearance.
Purposeful in their formation. She did not ever discuss them.
When my grandmother came to visit once a year
from California, my mother would pencil grandmother’s too.
I was too young then for eyebrows. I had them of course
(no Mike Nichols) but I did not pay them any attention until
a while ago when I began attending Threading Eyebrow Emporiums
where professionals, from India, would compensate for
what wasn’t there Now though I have graduated
to Benefit, national eyebrow chain two blocks from my apartment,
where this afternoon where Inessa, Terrell, or Savion, experts all,
will give me the eyebrows I need.
My mother, also a redhead, had an eyebrow problem. Her teacher in elementary school drew a pair on her face because she couldn't; stand looking at a kid without eyebrows.
daily grooming is taking me a bit longer now that I am growing older. I now take the time to brush my eyebrows in a downwards direction and brush my ears as well.
