Colors and Colours
Yesterday Ms. Ndaba and I, along with Taylor Crenshaw, also young, went to look at holiday windows. The ice sculptor at Barney's, making a penguin, Chihuly snowflakes, and Bergdorf's windows, most amazing of all. As we walked, the young women discussed colors, tribes, and minorities. Is it better to be in the majority was the question they posed. Taylor, an African American woman, goes to Howard. There, she said, there are a few minorities and they are Chinese and Indian. Ms. Ndaba, from Capetown, goes to North Country School, in the Adirondacks. White kids dominate.
As we walked through this black and white city where every single color exists all colors possible if you have the imagination for colors many think black and white if you are able to see what possible looks like what colors look how red and yellow if you combine them together become orange.
