(Yesterday for the second time in almost two years
we went to the movies to see a movie that was
entirely wonderful so wonderful that I told
two women at the table next to us at dinner
who did not look approachable that they should go see it today.)
C’mon, C’mon by Mike Mills husband of Miranda July (!)
stars Joaquin Phoenix, Gaby Hoffman, and an incredible child
named Woody Norman, and many children from Detroit, New Orleans
and New York. It’s shot in beautiful black and white.
A story of what family is and isn’t, what it means to recognize
that all of life no matter what is imperfect and sometimes wonderful.
Some reviewers said they didn’t like it because they knew they should.
We left the theater happier than we’ve been in a while,
and we had the same reaction: wanting everyone to go and see
even the two women sitting next to us at dinner.
