Ahava and our neighbors and their visitors
from Texas all went to the creek yesterday.
Ahava came with me. You’d better get Grandpa
she said when she got into the car.
You don’t drive a car. Not true I said and she
buckled her seatbelt with a certain amount of disbelief.
I do drive more or less and the creek is close by
and when we got there she immediately walked
to another family in the water with their five children
and I walked over to make sure it was ok for her
to be with them we are in the country where people
are very different from one another some see strangers
as unwelcome intruders some see strangers as friends
and I spoke to the father who smiled and said
they were political refugees from Myanmar living nearby
and of course Ahava could play with them.
Ahava welcomes the new arrivals
Beautiful. I love your poems about Ahava!
