I’ve been collecting favorite love songs
from my classes we don’t know one another’s
music one another’s songs.
Betty mentioned Killing Me Softly with Roberta Flack
later I googled found out it was written in 1954
by Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger
Pete’s half sister she sings this beautiful version
and here’s one of my own
favorites: Aretha singing It Was You.
(If you can send me yours.)
Oh easy...first place is Randy Newman singing "Marie". It has it all, love and regret and remorse.

Bobby Short singing any Gershwin (my grandmother grew up on the same block in Morningside Heights) or Cole Porter song. I once passed him on 55th Street, but never heard him at the Carlyle.
