Aretha Franklin and Reverend Barber
Last night we saw a film of Aretha Franklin
singing and singing from 1972 when she was young when we were young
never shown until last night when we a big happy crowd
on 23rd Street listened to every word she sang and hearing her made
what's good in life seem right there in front of us and then
Reverend William Barber if you've never seen him in person
Go Next Time Reverend Barber stood on stage he told us about hope
and how this is not the worst of times he told us about other terrible
things that happened before we know they did and how we will
and we can and how to keep on going and then he said that he knows
for sure that if we listen hard we can still hear Aretha and Mahalia
and everyone else they're all still singing.
