Beautiful woman greeted us
at Tonno’s restaurant in Gloucester.
She was talking to an admirer in front
of the restaurant they were
both smoking. He comes by five times
every single day she said. He’s the sweetest man
I ever met he asked for my number I said no
I don’t want a man
and besides I have a husband.
We’ve been married 28 years but I
don’t want any man
they’re all trouble. My mother’s
been married 55 years and she doesn’t want
one either. Every once in a while you meet
a sweet one though.
Like my admirer Annie said.
My great-great grandmother met a man who was studying for the priesthood. He left that and married her in a civil ceremony. Later he wanted a church wedding. She said no, adding, "There isn't a man in the world worth marrying twice."
Great to hear your good poem about Annie.
