Hard to know if
What Happens Now
is just the usual
aging situation
or if there’s actually
something wrong.
My new friend Lois
said her husband calls her
a fallen woman
because of how often
she falls. Dorothy
at the farmer’s market
explained why she can’t
use her hands. She said
she never could cook
and now she really can’t.
Meanwhile,
to distract myself
from body parts, my
own and other peoples,
I’ve started collecting
language idiosyncracies:
fat chance and slim chance
mean the same thing.
I think “fat chance” offers less possibility than slim.
One of my favs, Esther.
