A Few Small Things

No internet or electricity
until tonight. Strange and odd
and liberating. Although I did
go to the sink to wash my hands.
Forgetting.

Now, rain and rain and rain.
And the internet.

An old neighbor who used to
live in the post office and was
a Serious Christian called to say
her daughter was becoming Jewish.
I was the first person she called.
She bought her daughter
a Jewish star and a Menorah. She asked
what else she should do. I said
buy some books. Maybe Marx and Freud.

Today is the birthday of
three good friends.

I can wash my hands now.
