six people I know have birthdays today

(Funny that there are days like this: the multiple birthdays

remind me of Steves. Some things just resonate. Who knows why)

Five people I know have birthdays today and they’re all different

from one another not born the same year either don’t all read

poems (and they don’t have to either. ) Maybe I could try

a flash fiction mystery with one of the five being a Murderer.

But who would she murder? Maybe an evil politician

walking through Central Park)

Happy Birthday to Ralph master storyteller

from the South of India and on top of that his sisters are all nuns.

Happy Birthday to Marjorie serious and successful person

met a Moroccan man selling shoes on Eighth Street

a million years ago and she married him. (They got divorced)

Happy Birthday to Warren who writes good books about Serious Subjects

and is married to a woman who is Larger Than Life.

Happy Birthday to Lesley who used to run the New York Civil Liberties Union

and raised five children.

Happy Birthday to Amy who took me to a fancy lunch 23 years ago

and listened patiently to a 5 hour story (!!!) I wanted to tell.

And of course Happy Birthday to Everyone Else.
